With the support of Acacia Network, Capital District LATINOS (CDL) acquired the former site of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (built circa 1886) in 2018 to serve as the home for its Cultural Empowerment & Community Engagement Center. Today, the facility houses CDL’s administrative offices and its diverse community programs and services.

The Center features: an arts lounge that can provide display space for local artists; a sizeable multipurpose meeting hall that serves as a conference center and performance venue; a stunning sanctuary space with balcony, as well as a landscaped courtyard for special events and community gatherings; and, a working kitchen facility.

Capital Improvements Project

This historic property is in great need of major renovation to ensure its sustainability, beginning with the replacement of its 100 year-old slate tile roof, in addition to other critical system and amenity upgrades. CDL launched its Capital Campaign in early 2020 and is actively working to secure capital funds to embark on its ambitious and necessary mission to restore this crown jewel to its former glory, and to serve the Capital District for decades to come.
